Had such a great time with the
Aunties, they are always at the ready with a funny anecdote or hilarious
memories to share. They’re kind of like the modern day version of Lucille Ball
and Ethel Mertz.
Aunt Strannie, the Cowgirl who organizes the Resort Activities |
Our last night at the Venture In RV
Resort, was spent at the Rec Center, attending a Country Western Dance.
Let me
just say, there are people, way up there in age, who may shuffle slowly as they
walk, but get them out there on the dance floor and they can line-dance better
than most 20-year-olds!
Maybe coordination
comes with age.
Wouldn't that be great? I certainly wasn't born with it!
Mark is on the left, facing the wrong direction |
Mark and Aunt Ruth joined in the line dance and Mark was completely lost. He gave everyone a good laugh though, especially
when his pants started falling down. I was praying he’d notice that he came in
wearing shorts and they were now Capri length, but he was so busy trying to
keep up with the moves he hadn't a clue.
He finally caught his shorts just as they were about to become
full-length slacks. He did a little “cheek” wiggle as he was yanking them up, trying to make it all look part of the routine. (I was hiding under the table at this point) People were actually pointing and laughing! I think if Mark hadn't been so absorbed in the steps, he would have loved to see the crowds' reaction. Goofball.
I've never been to an RV Park with organized
Activities. This place has, Aerobics, Bible study, Bingo,
Book club, Clogging, Crafts, Karaoke, Billiards, Mah Jongg, Quilting, Bridge,
Shuffle board, as well as seasonal social events, and that's not naming everything on the agenda. A great place to come, make
friends and never be bored.
“Howdy beautiful, I see you’re not
wearing a label, care to dance?”
“I’d love to, but no break dancing.”

We headed out Sunday morning,
planning to stop by the Meteor Crater we had passed on the way to Colorado.
However when we arrived there were barbed wire fences, blocked off roads. They
wanted $18 per person and didn't allow dogs. So, we sat in the RV, in their
parking lot, ate lunch and looked up pictures of the meteor on-line for free.
Doesn't look like we would've gotten close to it anyway.

Drove another hour or so and spent
the night in a “parking lot”, otherwise known as Grand Canyon Railway RV Park.
There were some good features to this park;
1) It was walking distance to
downtown Williams, AZ, located on the old Route 66.

Outside a Car Wash, these "dummies" have been waiting decades for service. |
2) The park had a kennel-resort for you pets that was so nice, I’d even stay in it. A/C rooms with a door that led to a long dog run. Scheduled play-time.

3) The park is next to the train that takes you to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
I freaked out a little (okay, a LOT) when I saw how close the train tracks were to our rig. Can you imagine trying to sleep with the sound of a train driving right past your headboard.
I guess I do have a bit of an advantage there, have you heard Mark snore? Not a joke.
Turns out the trains only run during the daytime.
Today we have about a 4 hour drive
to Lake Havasu, AZ where we will be staying two nights. Hoping for some tanning weather! I noticed when I am out in the sun, people are having to squint when they look at me. Oh wait, they're probably being blinded by my radiant beauty. <wink>
What's your time limit for travelling in a day? Is 4 hours a standard travel day? Seems to be a fair enough amount of time to me if you want to take your time and yet get somewhere new.
ReplyDeleteWe try not to do more than 4-5 hours as we need time when we arrive at the new site to get her level, open her up, and set up... then for some reason, Mark always wants dinner made. He says "Feed thy husband" is Biblical, the 11th commandment?
